Personal: Hangtown MX, Rancho Cordova, CA (Saturday, May 22, 2010)

Hangtown here we come!  The outdoor motocross races kicked off last weekend in Rancho Cordova, CA just north of Sacramento.  A different experience for the entire family than the AMA Supercross races at Pac Bell Park in San Francisco. We were able to walk around and watch the races from different vantage points and meet some really cool people.  The boys got so close to the racing that they even got sprayed with dirt kicked up by the bikes.

A day of dirt bikes, new t-shirts, ice-cream, great weather, and family--priceless.

(By the way, it was relatively easy to get back to the car once we were done with our day.  Yeah...so we had to 4-wheel-drive the Volvo in the dirt. But unlike the AMA Supercross at Pac Bell, we didn't have to walk 1-2 miles with 2 tired boys on our backs to get back to our car--truly priceless. :))

Some of the racers photographed below are #338 Christophe Pourcel, #29 Andrew Short, #33 Josh Grant (Charlie's favorite 450 rider), and #1 Chad Reed.

Reigning 450 Class Champion Chad Reed, of Australia, began his title defense with the overall victory in the premier class while GEICO Powersports Honda's Eli Tomac, of Cortez, Colo., grabbed the 250 Class win in his professional debut.
